TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 9 months; Begining 2026-2027 school year

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Baccalaureate Degree in Education
  2. Valid Missouri Certificate from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in Special Education (Cross Categorical certification)
  3. Strong knowledge of working with students who struggle behaviorally
  4. BIST trained or willingness to get BIST trained
  5. Demonstrate competence in functional behavioral analysis, behavior management skills and instructional skills
  6. Possess certification in crisis intervention techniques
  7. Strong problem-solving skills
  8. Possess collaborative and interpersonal skills
  9. Excellent written and oral communication skills

 

JOB SUMMARY:

 

The Special Education/Behavior Teacher will assist with the provision of special education services for students who exhibit significant behavioral challenges which impede social development and academic success. The Special Education/Behavior Teacher will develop individualized special education plans, as well as targeted strategies to reduce problematic behaviors. The Special Education/Behavior Teacher will encourage productive behaviors through means such as positive reinforcement and will work closely with the student and with staff to assess the students’ behavior and academic progress.
