QUALIFICATIONS
- Baccalaureate Degree and a Master’s Degree in Education Administration
- Valid Missouri Certificate from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
- Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience
- Effective leadership skills and experiences
- Effective communication, team-building and organizational skills
- Proven background in instruction, assessment and professional development
JOB SUMMARY
The Principal must possess knowledge of instructional strategies, assessment practices and effective classroom management and discipline techniques. The Principal must exhibit effective communication skills to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents and community. The Principal must ensure a safe, pleasant and effective educational atmosphere that focuses on student learning, provide discipline as necessary and enforce school policy.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Participates in developing building goals according to the educational goals of the District.
- Provides for a safe, orderly, positive, clean school environment.
- Works with staff to develop a procedure to improve the assessment and instructional techniques used to teach the curriculum and develop a plan that allows teachers to practice new assessment and instructional techniques.
- Supervise the instructional process with routine classroom visits by ensuring faculty involvement in the identification and development of goals that improve classroom instruction and increase student learning.
- Observes instruction and provides feedback to teachers to improve instruction.
- Supervise the guidance program to enhance the individual students’ education and development.
- Establish guidelines for proper student conduct, maintain student discipline and advise teachers on student matters.
- Monitors student progress throughout the year.
- Assist the teachers in a continuous development of curriculum materials.
- Be responsible for ensuring the supervision of all extra-curricular activities.
- Supervise building level implementation of all assessment programs.
- Supervise and prepare all reports, data and documents as required.
- Assign all responsibilities to teachers.
- Supervise and evaluate building faculty and staff.
- Supports and participates in parent/community activities.
- Report needed repairs to the Assistant Superintendent of Business Operations.
- Demonstrates effective screening and interviewing skills to select staff that will complement existing staff.
- Provides an orientation program for new staff members.
- Manages resources, personnel and time in order to provide for effective and efficient day-by-day operation of the building.
- Provides for a systematic program of self-evaluation to improve daily performance.
- Informs appropriate Central Office personnel of problems, progress and plans in the building as they occur.
- Demonstrate conduct representative of the District and establish and maintain a good relationship with the community.
- Models positive behavior for students (i.e. inter-personal communication, processes, social interactions, etc.) for the purpose of providing educational and life skills training.
- Demonstrate professionalism and appropriate judgment in behavior, speech, dress and appropriate professional manner for the work setting.
- Demonstrate effective human relations and communication skills.
- Adhere to good safety practices.
- Ability to understand and adhere to all District rules, regulations and policies.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:
- stand, walk, sit and talk/hear;
- occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl;
