QUALIFICATIONS
- Baccalaureate Degree and a Master’s Degree in Education Administration
- Valid Missouri Certificate from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
- Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience

JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Principal will assist the building Principal on accountability for the educational, administrative and supervisory functions in the school building. The Assistant Principal communicates and enforces directives and policies approved by the Board of Education and Central Office to the building personnel, as delegated by the Principal.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Serves as administrative head of the school in the absence of the Principal.
- Assist in the maintenance of student order and conduct.
- Promotes high performance in the area of student learning:
- Good student and staff attendance
- Encourages students to set goals that lead toward High School graduation
- Parental involvement in the education process
- Assist teachers in a continuous development of curriculum materials.
- Provides general supervision to students.
- Visit classrooms regularly.
- Assist the Principal in evaluating all faculty/staff.
- Supervise and direct all student attendance matters.
- Share responsibility with the Principal for administering the Districts’ discipline and attendance policies through accepting building procedures.
- Develop supervision schedules.
- Assist the Principal with the supervision of extra-curricular activities.
- Assist the Principal with supervision of extra-curricular activities.
- Effect positive District and community relationships.
- Advise the teachers in difficult cases of student misconduct.
- Assist in general supervision of building and grounds for safety and welfare of students and staff.
- Participate in parent-teacher-student conferences as need arises.
- Provides for a systematic program of self-evaluation to improve daily performance.
- Demonstrate conduct representative of the District and establish and maintain a good relationship with the community.
- Models positive behavior for students (i.e. inter-personal communication, processes, social interactions, etc.) for the purpose of providing educational and life skills training.
- Demonstrate professionalism and appropriate judgment in behavior, speech, dress and appropriate professional manner for the work setting.
- Demonstrate effective human relations and communication skills.
- Adhere to good safety practices.
- Ability to understand and adhere to all District rules, regulations and policies.
- All other duties as required or assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:
- stand, walk, sit and talk/hear;
- occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl;
- occasionally push, pull or lift up to 50 lbs; and
- be able to see, including close, distance and depth perception.
